Beatification of Don Titus Zeman

04/10/2017

Malteser Aid Slovakia was present at the Pontifical Holy Mass of Beatification of Don Titus Zeman, which took place on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 by the Holy Family Church in Bratislava-Petržalka. The Mass was presided by Cardinal Angelo Amato, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, who was representing the Holy Father at the Mass. Cardinal Amato read the letter from Pope in which he gave permission to beatification. More than 25 000 people were attending the Beatification Mass.

Malteser Aid was in charge of sector designed for people with disabilities and had a medical tent by the main entrance. The Beatification went well without any serious incidents. Only a couple of medical emergencies needed to be addressed by our medical staff. Our volunteers were making sure that people with disabilities would get from special parking lot to their sector without any difficulties. Besides the medical tent, Malteser Aid Slovakia provided the sector with doctor who was ready to intervene, if needed.

The Beatification was great opportunity for us to deepen and strengthen our faith and virtues by the example of Blessed Don Titus Zeman. It was also an opportunity to help the organizers to serve those, who needed. Our volunteers also witnessed about the Order of Malta and Malteser Aid Slovakia in several TV interviews after the Mass and people have noticed our presence at the event. We are very grateful for that.

At the Beatification, besides Malteser Aid volunteers, some members of the Order of Malta were present as well – including the President of Malteser Aid Slovakia JUDr. Július Brichta.
